NU holds ‘awareness on equal opportunity’

Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) of Nagaland University (NU) organised a programme on “awareness on equal opportunity” at I. Ihoshe Kinimi Hall, Lumami on November 4.

A press release by NU Lumami PRO, Peter Ki stated that, in his speech prof. Pardeshi Lal, vice-chancellor highlighted theory of natural selection, which entailed struggle for existence and survival of the fittest. He also pointed out that it was through the reservation policy that all were able to sit at par with others in a heterogeneous society.

Short speeches were delivered by Dr. Abemo, registrar, prof. M.K. Sinha and prof. S.K. Chaturvedi. 

Dr. Abemo congratulated the cell and urged everyone concerned to take the lead in realizing the goal of equal opportunity in a country which was well-known for its diversity. Prof. M.K. Sinha asserted that even in the 21st century the world has not become egalitarian. Prof. Chaturvedi dwelt on MOOCs (massive open online courses) as providing an equal opportunity for everyone with an interest in acquiring knowledge in any field.

Earlier, welcome address was delivered by prof. CR Deb, advisor-cum-chairman, EOC, while Alice Pongener, member secretary, EOC presented a brief note on the cell. Among others, they shared about the mandate of the EOC, while also elaborating on the activities to be taken up by the cell. Words of gratitude was given by Dr. Anthony V. Richa, deputy registrar.
