NUK organizes Declamation Contest

A district level declamation contest on ‘’Patriotism and Nation Building” as part of Republic Day celebration 2018 (EK Bharat Shreshtha Bharat) was organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Dimapur, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, in collaboration with NSS Units Dimapur on October 13 at Youth Hostel, Dimapur.

According to UNV- District Youth co-ordinator, NYK, Dimapur, K. Phyobemo Lotha, in his introductory speech, he said, the contest would provide youth an opportunity to exhibit their presentation skills and art of speaking, among other things. It would also facilitate them to develop and redefine their leadership qualities, he added.

NSS program officer and HOD (commerce) DGC, M. Angami, also exhorted the NYKS and NSS volunteers on their roles and responsibilities. Altogether 25 NSS and NYKS volunteers from ICFAI University, Dimapur Government College, Unity College, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Eastern Christian College, NYVs, and Youth Clubs participated in the contest.

The contest was won by Tinang Konyak, NSS Unit of DGC, followed by Lushian H. NSS Unit of ICFAI University and Rangtalak Pame, NSS Unit of DGC. The winners received cash prizes of Rs. 5000, Rs. 2000, and Rs. 1000 and certificates respectively. The winner of the district level declamation contest will represent the district at the State Level which will be organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Nagaland, Kohima.

The jury board of the declamation contest were, Selina Wallang, asst. prof. DGC,  Rini Ghose, director, Serendip Guardians and Dr. Imtinungsang Jamir, asst. prof. and NSS PO, ICFAI University. The program was attended by government officials, NSS program officers, NYK officials, NYKS and NSS volunteers, NYVs and Youth Clubs.
