NUSU Lumami fresher’s day

Nagaland University Students’ Union (NUSU) Lumami, observed its 21st Fresher’s Day under the theme, “Cognizance of Dawn” on August 31, at I. Ihoshe Kinimi Hall, Nagaland University, Lumami. DC Zunheboto, Shanavas C. graced the occasion as the guest speaker. 

A press release from NUSU Lumami information & publicity secretary, Suraj Kumar stated that the guest speaker Shanavas gave a speech on how to become great. He opined that there was no short cut to success except through dedication, diligence and being a responsible person in society and by valuing social aspects of life. He also advised the students to choose their career path wisely and venture into different sectors.

Vice chancellor NU professor, Pardeshi Lal exhorted the gathering based on the theme. He said that participation of physically and mentally alert students was the need of the hour to drive the nation into the right track. He acknowledged the government for its efforts in making education a top priority with the introduction of MOOCs such as SWAYAM, NDL etc. 

The program was chaired by Medochulie Hillary Ceisotsu; invocation prayer was offered by convenor Sumi Fellowship Lumami NU, Lituna Kinimi; a welcome song was presented by Ao Fellowship NU Lumami; presidential address by president NUSU (L), K. Buche Khiamniungan; vote of thanks was delivered by organizing secretary NUSU (L), Jenato Achumi; while benediction was said by prayer secretary EUNU (L), Jetile.

The program was followed by an informal session hosted by Yenwang WK and Meribeni Odyuo with a showcase of the students’ talents. Akumsunep Longchar and Sentirenla Ao bagged the titles of Mr & Miss Fresher’s Nagaland University, Lumami 2018 respectively; Mr. Personality and Miss Congeniality were bagged by Luin Jamir and Süyievelü Venuh respectively; while the Mr & Miss photogenic titles were given to Hamlang Konyak and Mughani Phucho.
