NVBDCP monitoring team visits Wokha, Mokokchung

State monitoring team of National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) visited Wokha and Mokokchung districts to review the implementation of the programme. 

On Friday, the team toured Chukitong block and visited several health units in Wokha.
A press release by district vector borne officer (NVBDCP) Wokha stated that the team led by State Programme Officer (SPO), Dr. Temsula and deputy director, Dr. Neisakuo also reviewed the implementation of programme in the block.
The team also attended the district review meeting of NVBDCP at CMO Conference Hall Wokha which was attended by NVBDCP staff under the district along with deputy CMO, Dr. Zuben Kikon. The meeting reviewed the malarial activities of NVBDCP under Wokha district. At the meeting, Dr. Temsula emphasised on proper documentation and record maintenance for certification of free malaria. She also stressed on the awareness of vector borne disease like dengue, Japanese Encephalitis (JE) and its prevention to percolate down to all level of the district.   
Mokokchung: A team of officials from National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) undertook three-day field visit to health centres under Mangkolemba, Ongpangkong and Changtongya block from August 19 to 21. 
The team was led by Dr. I. Talitemsula Jamir, joint director & SPO (NVBDCP), Dr. Neisakho dy. director (NVBDCP) from the directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Kohima and Dr. Tiasunep DVBO Mokokchung.  
A press release from DPMU, CMO office Mokokchung stated that, the team met medical officers, staff, ASHAs and gave corrective instructions on malaria reporting formats, stocks reports, lab reports, charts and physical verification of malarial drugs.  SPO also encouraged the ASHAs to collect bloodslides/RDT from any fever patient for which incentives of Rs.15 per slide/RDT will be given and Rs. 75 if malaria positive was detected. 
ASHAs were also asked to encourage the public to use LLIN (mosquito net) regularly and keep the surroundings clean and free from stagnant water collection to prevent mosquito breeding.
District review meeting was also conducted on August 22 at IDSP hall with all the field staff under NVBDCP Mokokchung. Imkummongba DVBDC, Mokokchung gave brief power point presentation on district performance of malaria. 
Dr. Neisakho encouraged the district to achieve malaria elimination by 2020. Dr. Chubala CMO also encouraged the field workers to give better performance.
Dr. I. Temsula, SPO asked the surveillance workers to maintain the reporting formats properly in the health centres which was important for declaration of malaria elimination. Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Tiasunep.
