Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organisation (NVCO) observed “Vigilance Awareness Week” under the theme “Eradicate corruption – Build a New India” from October 29 to November 3.

A press release from NVCO press and media cell stated that NVCO has also submitted a representation to the chief secretary of Nagaland on October 31 to set up Lokayukta to eradicate corruption in Nagaland.

President of NVCO Kezhokhoto Savi appealed for people to practice and not just preach anti-corruption practices so that the primary objective of the Central Vigilance Commission in conducting the Vigilance Awareness Week could be achieved.

NVCO stated that corruption in the context of Nagaland included abuse of power, nepotism, favouritism, extortion, bribery, embezzlement and fraud.
