Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organisation (NVCO) has termed backdoor appointment as a clear case of corruption in Nagaland, alleging the authority/officers/politicians with abuse of power and nepotism where they give jobs from public offices to relatives, family members, own community and constituency people without any advertisement and no selection process.

A press release from NVCO press and media cell conveyed its sincere appreciation to Naga Tribal Union Chumoukedima Town (NTUCT) for their timely fight against the 994 backdoor appointments in police department. NVCO also extended its fullest support to NTUCT in every possible manner.

President of NVCO Kezhokhoto Savi, advocate said that the 994 appointments was a clear case of backdoor appointment as they were made without any advertisement and it also infringes the fundamental rights of other eligible candidates which is amounting to infringement of Article 14 & 16 of the Indian Constitution.

NVCO termed the clarification of director general of Police T John Longkumer as “very unfortunate” where he categorically clarified that none of the constable appointments made in the department are backdoor appointments. However the NVCO has demanded that the alleged 994 appointments have to be immediately cancelled for the interest of justice and it cannot be compromised in any manner.

NVCO stated that the fight against backdoor appointment was simply contributing towards building a bright future for the young educated and eligible candidates for any recruitment from public offices. It is also the fight against all those employed who have been appointed/recruited in various departments bypassing the constitutional scheme of public employment.
