NWA announces upcoming activities

The golden celebration of Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) has been scheduled on March 5 and 6, 2020, during its 27th meet. This was announced by NWA president, Neivikuolie Khatsu during a press conference held at its office AMK building Kohima on Wednesday, which was also attended by NWA general secretary Vekhozo.

Khatsu disclosed that during the celebration, junior wrestlers (under-16) and below championship will be introduced where three units would send 12 wrestlers each. 

In this regard, NWA has extended invitation from non-wrestling Naga tribes. NWA officials also announced other various upcoming activities of the association. He informed that Naga wrestling would be introduced for the first time in Niathu sports organized by the Niathu group scheduled to be conducted on October 25 at Niathu resort Chumokedima. 

It informed interested persons to collect the form on payment of Rs. 1000 as entry fee from NWA general secretary. NWA will also be conducting the first state level selection for the national free style and belt wrestling championship on October 18 at Khesoh’s Grappling academic Grace Higher Secondary School, Kohima. He said national belt wrestling championship will be held on November 21-24 at Hyderabad under three categories (16- 17 years) boys, junior (18-19 years) boys and girls and senior men and women.

National free style wrestling will be from November 28-30 at Jalandhar in two categories.

NWA also informed that at the 13th International Hornbill Naga wrestling championship 2019, five to six wrestlers from Uzbekistan will be participating and expected wrestlers from Manipur and Mizoram.
