NYK holds district level sports meet

Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Dimapur, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, in collaboration with office of the District Sports Officer, Dimapur and Sports Authority of India (SAI), Dimapur, organised a district level sports meet on the theme “You can do it,” on February 22 and 23 at Government Higher Secondary School ground, Dimapur. 

According to NYK Dimapur, the tournament was aimed at promoting Sepak Takraw among the young people in the district.
The meet was inaugurated by state coach, Sepaktakraw, YRS Holshe Khrieo. In his inaugural speech, Khrieo reminded the participants that with hard work and determination they can compete at various levels which will ultimately take them to national and international level. He also encouraged the young sports persons to actively participate with sincerity and dedication in any kind of sporting event as it will improve their skills and develop competitive spirit. 
Earlier, in the introductory address, UNV district youth co-ordinator, NYK Dimapur, K. Phyobemo Lotha, welcomed all the participants and officials and highlighted the objectives of organising the sports meet. 
He said that having faith in the skills, potentials and talent of the young people, the sports meet was organised to provide a platform to the youngsters to exhibit and explore their skills as also to promote sportsmanship spirit among the youngsters.
The closing ceremony was graced by district sports officer, Dimapur, Tepulezonu Tetso. 
She challenged the young participants to start aiming and plan for their goal with commitment and sincerity. She also handed away the trophies, certificates and cash prizes to the winners.
Altogether 13 team participated in the sepektakraw event. The event also highlighted 5000 meters race and long jump for both boys and girls respectively.
