NYKs conduct DYC in Wokha, Phek

Nehru Yuva Kendras (NYKs) Wokha and Phek conducted district youth convention (DYC) and cultural programme in respective district headquarters.

Wokha: Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Wokha conducted district youth convention (DYC) and cultural programme on February 29 at town hall, Wokha with EAC Chukitong, Echungbemo Erui, as the special guest. A press release from NYK Wokha stated that, addressing the youth, Erui spoke on the significance and importance of preserving and promoting culture and called upon the younger generation to take interest in persevering and carrying forward their rich heritage and culture.  He also spoke on the importance of social service and urged the youths to get involved in developing and shaping the society. Sports materials were distributed to NYK, affiliated youth clubs by special guest.  In a keynote address, DYC, NYK, Kohima, John Makhabo termed NYKS as the largest grass-root level organization in the world with 1.5 lakh youth clubs affiliated to it. He said NYKS focuses on youth capacity building activities and called upon the youth to be part of it.
NYV, Meribeni Patton, exhorted the youth leaders present and spoke on the importance of their participation and cooperation in developmental programmes.The gathering was enthralled through a presentation by three cultural troupes namely, Hungjandaren Youth Club, Pangti village students, and Yingaren Youth club. 
Phek: In Phek, programme was held at DPDB hall, Phek town on February 26 with SDO (C) Phek, Zhoi Lohe as the guest speaker. 
A press release from NYK Phek stated that, Lohe urged the gathering to look beyond white collar jobs, and start recognising one’s own talent by honing it for availing diverse opportunities in life. Citing an example of a B.Com graduate turned aspiring entrepreneur, Toyi Swuro, who runs a humble shoe repairing shop and have recently bagged Red Carpet Social Award, Lohe challenged the attendees to emulate and learn a noteworthy example from him. 
Earlier, programme was chaired by Khrukulu Rhakho (NYV), invocation by Shekhrunelu Vese, welcome and keynote address were delivered by accountant, Liasou and district youth coordinator Phek, Rebecca respectively. Satsan Krotho Sohomi, Kutsapo Women Cultural group presented folk tune and a special song was also presented by Adosa Nuwiry. Sports materials were distributed to all the concerned youth clubs. Words of gratitude was given by Rhuvikho (NYV), and closing prayer pronounced by Shevepa Vese (NYV). Approximately 120 youths representing various clubs, colonies, villages and students union under Phek participated.
