Official team visits border trade center

Commissioner and secretary of Industries and Commerce Department along with the department’s director and general managers of all the District Industries Centers, as a team, for the first time, visited the Longwa International Border Trade Center, Mon on July, 14.
According to DIPR, the tour was initiated as an exposure program for the officials of the department to help understand border trade as currently being practiced and to provide inputs to facilitate formal trade against the barter trade system prevalent. The officials interacted with locals of the area and also visited the border trade infrastructure. The site for construction of a Common Facility Center (CFC) for Handicraft Cluster at Longwa under the North East Region Textile Promotion Scheme (NERTPS) was also identified during the visit.
A coordination & review and evaluation meeting of the general managers with HoD and AHoD was also held at Mon on July 13. Issues concerning implementation of schemes and matters were also discussed and resolved in the meeting. A review of performance of all the District Industries Centers was also discussed.
