One arrested with 9 smuggled pig carcasses

Dimapur police on Tuesday arrested one person on charges of smuggling nine pig carcasses weighting about 670 kg from neighbouring Assam to Dimapur. The accused was identified as one Ansul Singh (37) of Uttar Pradesh and currently residing at Ghorapatti, Dimapur. 

According to Dimapur police PRO, the meat samples have also been taken by the veterinary department for test, adding that a case has been registered with West PS Dimapur.
Dimapur district veterinary hospital, dy. director and in-charge Dr. KN Zubemo Humtsoe, told Nagaland Post over phone that samples would be sent to ELISA laboratory Kohima for classical swine fever confirmation and to North East disease diagnostic laboratory Khanapara Guwahati for African Swine Fever. Disposal of carcasses was carried out at DMC dumping site by following all SOP in the presence of the officials.
