Oppn NPF to decide Kenye’s fate on Jan 7

Dissatisfied with the response of Rajya Sabha member KG Kenye to the show-cause notice served on him for voting in favour of Citizenship (Amendment) Act, NPF’s Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) had recommended NPF president Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu to discuss the matter on a bigger platform, including with Central office bearers and Central Executive Council.

Based on the recommendation, the president called for a meeting on January 7, where the MP has also been reportedly invited.

A senior NPF functionary informed Nagaland Post that the matter would be discussed during the meeting and a decision taken. The senior party member regretted that despite being in opposition, the image of the party was stained, even as the confidence of the people on the party was also greatly being affected.

Echoing Liezietsu, who had told Nagaland Post during an interview that NPF would never ever accept CAA, the senior member claimed that his party had always stood by the people and would not step back, but continue to remain with the people, while also restoring the party’s image.

Meanwhile, though the NPF president had accepted the resignation of Kenye from the post of secretary general, the party was reportedly yet to identify anyone for replacement. According to sources, the names of at least three senior party functionaries were doing the rounds. However, NPF remained tight-lipped on the issue.
