Orangkong Village Government Employees Union (OVGEU) under Longleng district celebrated its 25th anniversary under the theme “Nenteiaok pai Chongphohen” (To serve with humility) on December 11. 

The event was graced by executive engineer, PWD Longleng, Er. S. Toshi Angh as special guest and executive secretary PBCA Longleng, N. Tialemba as the theme speaker. 

Speaking on the occasion, Er. S. Toshi lauded the pioneers for serving the union tirelessly amidst untold difficulties in those days. He said it was with their steadfast and constant contribution the union has reached its glorious years and grown to this extend. 

He said jubilee was a moment of retrospection on the past and also a time to seek blessing for the future and therefore it was everyone responsibility to prepare a vision for the coming years. 

The special guest also called upon the present leaders of the union to be more dedicated and responsible by performing their duties in the right direction to shape the future of the union. 

Earlier, the special guest unveiled the jubilee monolith which was dedicated by the executive secretary, Phom Baptist Christian Association (PBCA) N. Tialemba Phom. 

Speaking on the theme, N. Tialemba said, humility revealed when one learn from God’s word, follow God’s word and live a life that reflects God’s word in love, respect, truth and service to God and others. 

He said humility in leadership was about desperate dependence on Jesus and serving with a heart of trust and obedience. 

He therefore, called upon the gatherings to be God’s chosen people, live with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience and bear with each other to serve with humility and forgive one another through the celebration of this jubilee. 

Others who spoke on the occasion were chairman Orangkong Village Council, S. Namnyei Phom and general secretary Buhu Noknyu, A. Achong Angh.
