OVSU diamond jubilee

Orangkong Village Students’ Union (OVSU) celebrated the diamond jubilee-cum-conference at Orangkong village here on Sunday. 

Deputy secretary, government of Nagaland, B. Henok Buchem graced the event as special guest. 

In his speech, he said any celebration of jubilee was a moment to rethink with a pure heart by dedicating on the present and future. 

He also stressed on the importance of education and stated that education comes from God and therefore it was everyone duty to seek and thank God with a humble heart. 

The special guest also challenged the students to live their lives like Daniel, who despite of confrontation never gave up but feared God, for which he was gifted with wisdom and knowledge. In the same way, he told the students that God has given them the same gift and that they will receive it when they come closer to Him. He further reminded the gathering that it was everyone’s responsibility in the village to help the children so that when they grown up they can take up the responsibility for the betterment of the village. 

The special guest also pointed out that village has produced the first female graduate and male post graduate among the Phom community with God’s blessing. He therefore encouraged youngsters to be a torch bearer and never backslide but to contribute for the development of the village.

Others who spoke on the occasion included. H. Leisha Phom, Er. ToshiAngh and N. Niamko Phom OSU pioneer. 

Earlier, the programme was led by Chuli Phom, president, OSU Nyengching Unit Longleng and Bible reading and prayer by B. Namsong Phom. 

Pastor B. Pangpent said a special prayer for Orangkong Students Union, while special number was presented by Dimapur Orangkong Students Union.
