Paiwang moots bus service in Mokokchung

After Dimapur, the State transport department is planning to introduce bus service in Mokokchung town. 

This was disclosed to media persons by minister of Transport & Civil Aviation, Railways & Land Resources, Paiwang Konyak on Tuesday during his surprise visit to division manager Nagaland State Transport and Regional Transport office, Mokokchung. 

Though the date of launching of the service has not been revealed, the minister said that he had directed the divisional manager to give a report within three days to study the feasibility and success rate of starting bus service in Mokokchung. Based on the report, the matter will be taken up, he added. He further said that once the service became operational it will greatly benefit the people in multiple ways. He said that from next summer, AC busses will also be introduced.

On the issue of ISBT lying unused in Mokokchung, the minister termed it as unfortunate that people were not utilizing the facility. 

He further added that the transport department was not an enforcement agency and therefore the district administration and all concerned must ensure that the facility is utilized to its fullest potential. 

He also said that the department has been pursuing this issue rigorously and expressed optimism that something good will come up shortly.  

Earlier, during a informal interactions with the staff of the department, he urged the employees to be responsible and sincere in performing their duties. 

While assuring of all possible help to the department, he cautioned that any lapse from the staff and the officers from his departments will not be tolerated.
