Riding on Rishabh Pant’s unbeaten 78 off just 27 balls at an astronomical strike rate of 288.89, Delhi Capitals posted 213/6 on board to beat Mumbai Indians by 37 runs . Coming in to bat after the dismissal of Colin Ingram in the 13th over, the 21-year-old ripped apart every bowler who came his way as his innings included 7 fours and 7 sixes. Pant’s fifty came off just 18 balls as he hit the second fastest fifty by a Delhi Capitals batsman. Chris Morris hit the fastest fifty by a Delhi batsman in 2016 against Gujarat Lions.

Earlier, Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to bowl as Shikhar Dhawan and Colin Ingram stitched together 83 runs for the third wicket following the dismissals of Prithvi Shaw (7) and captain Shreyas Iyer (16).

In their run-chase, the Mumbai Indians managed to score 176 with all wickets down in 19.2 overs. The only substantial knock came from Yuvraj Singh ( 53 off 35 balls) and Krunal Pandya ( 32 off 15 balls).

The Delhi capital bowlers chipped in with wickets at regular intervals to ensure that they were always in the hunt and the Mumbai Indians were always faced with a climbing run-rate.

Sharma and Rabada accounted for two wickets apiece while Boult, Tewati, Paul and Patel got one wicket each.
