A People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) delegation called on the union Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman at North Block, New Delhi on Tuesday and took up several issues including Trans Nagaland Highway.

The delegation included State BJP president and minister higher education and tribal affairs Temjen Imna Along; minister housing & mech Tongpang Ozukum; BJP national spokesperson and advisor for IT&C, S&T and NRE, Mmhonlumo Kikon, advisor horticulture, border affairs Mhathung Yanthan and advisor TE and election Medo Yokha.

In a press release, PRO (IPR) Nagaland House, New Delhi K. Mere stated that the delegation urged Sitharaman for special allocation for all round development of the State. Kikon requested the union minister to provide special allocation in the road sector, particularly for the development of the Trans Nagaland Highway, which would connect all the foot hills of state.

During the discussion, Imna Along stressed on the importance of the Trans Nagaland Highway. He also appealed to the union finance minister on the National Education Policy and the need for considering the special needs of the North Eastern States. 

On the issue of farmer production organization for Nagaland, raised by Mhathung, the union minister assured to extend all possible assistance.

Tongpang requested the union finance to consider the proposal of the State for development of an International Exhibition and Convention Center Dimapur district under Externally Aided Project (EAP). 

He also highlighted the ongoing projects initiated by the housing department under State plan and negotiated Loan which requires about Rs.400 crore for completion.

The union finance minister assured the delegation that the central government would extend all the possible help for all round development for the state. The delegation expressed gratitude to the union minister for the serious concern she had for the development of the state. 

The delegation also extended invitation to the union minister to visit the state during the annual Hornbill Festival.
