PDA upholds state cabinet’s decision

People’s Democratic Alliance Nagaland (PDA) Monday upheld the decisions of the State Cabinet on the matter of the Citizenship Amendment Bill and expressed its strong solidarity with the firm stand of the state government. 

This resolution among several others was arrived at during a joint meeting of PDA MLAs and PDA coordination committee members on January 21 at the chief minister’s residential office, headed by chairman, Chingwang Konyak and co-chairman Temjen Imna Along. 

PDA also welcomed the decision of the cabinet to hold consultations with cross sections of society on the matter. For this, PDA appealed to all concerned to come forward in a positive and participatory manner with views and suggestions so that the approach of the government will reflect the will and desire of the people.

The coalition partners also reaffirmed their commitment on the unity and understanding within the alliance and reiterated that the PDA was on solid footing under the leadership of chief minister Neiphiu Rio. The 

It further reminded that the PDA was functioning smoothly with collective responsibility while tirelessly pursuing the commitments of the Common Minimum Program (CMP) of the coalition with encouraging support from all sections of the people. 

The house also unanimously resolved that PDA consensus candidates under the banner of NDPP would be fielded in the forthcoming bye elections to the 26 Aonglengden A/C and the Lok Sabha election. 

PDA also appreciated the developmental works and welfare programmes being undertaken by the state government in a successful manner as committed in the CMP with the positive support of the NDA government.

Meanwhile, PDA informed that the state government has ensured that salaries of its employees, especially to teachers and scholarships to students, were being disbursed in a timely manner. Several new initiatives aimed at upliftment of all sections, promotion of youth empowerment including sports and games, successful implementation of tourism events and new policies under agri and allied sector amongst a host of other developmental activities are ensuring that positive and progressive change is taking place in Nagaland, it added.
