PDLSA organizes Lok Adalat awareness program

The Phek District Legal Service Authority (PDLSA) organized “ADR/Lok Adalat” awareness programs on April 25 at Council Hall, Phek and at Thenyizumi Village, Phek on April 26. 

A press release from PDLSA stated that PDLSA panel lawyer, Rukuvolu Vero, spoke on the Legal Services Authority Act saying it was enacted to provide equal justice to all, to provide free legal aid to the poor and to spread legal awareness. 
Panel lawyer, Vethothi Vero, spoke on ADR/Lok Adalat, where he stressed on disputes or pending and pre litigation cases like bank recovery case. He said these can be referred to the free of cost Lok Adalats for a final settlement through conciliation or compromise. 
At Thenyizumi Village, chairman, PDLSA, Longshi Ezung, spoke on the Victim Compensation Act and Motor Vehicle Act and also highlighted the Nagaland Village Council Act. He also dwelt on proper discharge of duties and responsibilities as per provisions of the Village Council Act. 
Panel Lawyer, PDLSA, Sekhotso Rokha, spoke on Human Trafficking and briefly dwelt on rights, features and objectives of the Consumer Protection Act. Kenei Swuro spoke on the RTI Act, protection of women from domestic violence and functions and activities of Legal Service Authorities. Altogether 50 beneficiaries attended the seminar.
