Phek District Timber Association (PDTA) has extended support to the appeal made by NTTU to chief minister of Nagaland in regard to timber trade. A press release from PDTA president Tsote and general secretary Tsonglemong Peri stated that, the PDTA requested consideration for a period of time in order to prevent pause on the trade for livelihood of the timber community. It also stated that time period was for the interest of all, to transact accordingly and desirably.

PDTTU: Peren District Timber Trader Union (PDTTU) in a press release by president Ichiau Kenn and secretary Johny Newme stated that, Peren is the most timber producing district in Nagaland and the government’s decision to ban all the raw material is uncalled for, since timber is the source of income for most of the families. PDTTU therefore urges the government to take proper consultation before any decision is made, since “the timber does not belong to the government”.
