PDTTU holds meeting; adopts 4-point resolution

The Peren District Timber Traders Union (PDTTU) held a meeting at Jalukie on May 10 and adopted a four-point resolution.

In a press release, PDTTU president Ichiau Kenn and general secretary Johny Newme stated that the house resolved to cease collection of maintenance fee from all the vehicles but take nominal fee of Rs. 1000 per vehicle for emergency fund.
The union asked the concerned individual or group operating timber under its jurisdiction to submit photocopy of area agreement/deal to the union on or before October 30, failing which, any vehicle carrying timber would not be allowed to leave Peren district.
As per discussion, the house resolved that it would not be responsible to pay any kind of tax/taxes outside of Peren district and which the owner of the saw mill or the buyer of the timber would be responsible for any tax/taxes outside the district.
The union also decided to conduct an audit for 2021 on May 25 and convene the general meeting on May 28, 11 a.m. at Jalukie town forest rest house.
