Petrol became cheaper by 21-23 paise per litre and diesel by 20-21 paise in all the metro cities after the petrol and diesel prices were slashed for the fourth straight day Monday.

Price of petrol per litre in Delhi on Monday was Rs 78.56 against Rs 78.78 on Sunday, while Diesel is priced at Rs 73.16 against Rs 73.36 on Sunday.

In Dimapur, petrol price was Rs.74.39 per litre, down 21 paise compared to yesterday’s price while diesel was sold at Rs 68.77 per litre. Petrol price was Rs.75.10 per litre and diesel was Rs. 69.26 per lire in Kohima on Monday.

The recent drop in the international crude oil price and the Rupee’s appreciation against dollar are the main reasons behind the fall in the retail fuel in the country.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Monday announced that Washington was exempting India from the sanctions on importing oil from Iran.

He said US will continue to negotiate with India to cut Iranian imports to zero.
