Petrol, diesel prices slashed

Petrol and diesel prices witnessed another big cut on Friday as international crude oil prices continued to fall and the Indian rupee also appreciated against the US dollar. On Friday, petrol, diesel prices fell between 40-45 paise per litre across all metro cities of the country.

After today’s price cut, petrol was retailing at Rs 75.57 in the national capital Delhi while diesel was retailing at Rs 70.56 as against Rs 70.97 on Thursday.

Meanwhile, petrol price was Rs. 71.54 per litre and diesel price was Rs. 66.26 per litre in Dimapur on Friday. In the state capital Kohima, a litre of petrol and diesel was Rs. 72.35 and Rs. 66.87 respectively.

State-run oil marketing companies Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum revise fuel prices with effect from 6 am every day on the basis of the rupee-dollar exchange rate and global crude oil prices.

The government allowed revision of fuel rates on a daily basis since mid-June last year to reflect changes in costs instantly.
