Phek health workers oriented to Kayakalp

A one-day orientation workshop on Kayakalp for SMOs of CHCs and MOs/Nurses in-charge of PHCs, was conducted on August 16, at CMO conference hall, Phek district.

The main aim of the workshop was to orient health facility in-charges on the objectives and scope of the Kayakalp scheme.

A press release issued by district media officer Phek, Kutolu Nakro stated that when speaking at the workshop, Dr. Nungotso Vero, the resource person, highlighted the main goals of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, in launching Kayakalp.

He explained that the objectives of Kayakalp were to promote cleanliness, hygiene and infection control practices in public health care facilities. It also incentivizes and recognizes public healthcare facilities that show exemplary performance in adhering to standard protocols of cleanliness and infection control etc.

Dr. Nungotso requested the health facility in-charges to constitute a Cleanliness and Infection Control Committee at the earliest.

He also stated that record maintenance by the health facility was an important criterion to apply for the award scheme.

Dy. Chief Medical Officer Phek, Dr. Vethihulu called upon the health workers of all the health units to participate in Kayakalp.

She encouraged the health workers saying that if they gave their best efforts and coordinate among themselves to achieve the Kayakalp criteria, they could indeed achieve it.

NHM DPM Sede also highlighted the different award criteria categories for DH, CHCs and PHCs. He also requested the health units to submit their internal assessment to the district on time.

A practical session was also conducted during which the participants were taken to DH and they inspected the hospital.
