Pig breeding-cum-learning centre inaugurated in Dmu

Pig breeding-cum-learning centre was inaugurated at Ruzaphema village, Dimapur by joint secretary RD and state mission NRLM director, Imtimenla on September 22. 

A press release by NSRLM Dimapur, DFS, Rozila Sangtam stated that, during the inaugural Imtimela congratulated the leaders of SHG of the village for judiciously utilizing the fund provided by the state mission towards construction of the centre. 

She reminded that the centre was established under livelihoods enhancement initiative of the mission and the purpose was to mitigate the demand of quality piglets in and around the village. She added that it was also a learning centre for the SHG members. She requested the members of the village, village council and the GBs to extend support in making the centre a model pig breeding unit in the district.

Speaking on the occasion, project director DRDA Dimapur, Atokhe Aye encouraged the SHG members to make the centre an excellent unit and an example for others to follow. Further, he committed to construct one ring well for supply of good water source for the unit.  

Four gilts and one boar of Hampshire and Yorkshire cross were introduced in the centre as the first batch of breeders. Inaugural function was attended by Gwasilo Thong, additional mission director, officers and staff from NRLM Kohima and Dimapur, head GB of the village, women pastor, village leaders and members of SHG from the village.
