Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Peren district organised an inter district training program on value addition to pineapple on August 3, at KVK, Yisemyong village under Mokokchung district.

A press release from ATMA said that this was done with the objective of creating a home based processing business for farmers to further add value to their production and also to prevent post harvest losses.

KVK program assistant Moianla, conducted the technical session during which she explicated methods for processing pineapple juice and pineapple jam followed by an elaborate demonstration of the steps required for making of the two. Information on food safety and standards were also disseminated to prevent health hazards and deterioration of food items.

Review of the farmers who attended the training indicated a positive result as they were motivated to take up home scale production and were enlightened on the prospects of processed products.
