PM appeals to switch off lights voluntarily

DIMAPUR, APR 4 (NPN) | Publish Date: 4/4/2020 1:25:36 PM IST

Following Prime Minister’s appeal to switch off lights on Sunday night, Ministry of Power has requested all consumers to voluntarily switch off their lights at 9 p.m. on April 5.

However, it said there was no call to switch off either streetlights or home appliances. Adequate arrangements and protocols have been placed to handle the variation in demand and people have been assured not to worry.

Local bodies have been advised to keep the street lights on. However, the lights in hospitals and other essential services will remain on.
