Poumai Naga Naotumai Me Kohima (PNNMK) (women organization) celebrated its 12th raising day under the theme “how women can change in politics ?” with former chairperson PNNMK Rocinah as the speaker at Poumai Baptist Church Midland Kohima on Friday.

Based on the theme, Rocinah in her speech said women have great role to play in the field of politics to choose the right and good leaders for the society. However, she lamented that in Naga society  woman has no voice in the legislative and decision making body and claimed that if Naga women were given chance in the decision making body, women would perform well with more humanity.

Encouraging the women folk to exercise what is right, the former women leader said women should exercise fearlessly with sacrifice for what is good for the society. She challenged the mothers and women to go out beyond kitchen and contribute something beneficial for the people. Citing the example of some advanced women societies, she urged the participants to emulate from them the good qualities they possess and contribute to the society.

The programme chaired by PNNMK secretary, Kezevinuo Hormi began with an invocation by MCRCK women chairperson and welcome song by PNNMK executive members.

On the occasion, a new officer bearers for the tenure 2020 till 2022 were elected with Stella as chairperson, Apane as general secretary, Teresa as treasurer and Rocinah as jubilee convenor.
