Commissioner of Police, Limasunep Jamir inaugurated a Police Assistance Centre (PAC) at Darogapathar, here on Friday.

In his inaugural address, Limasunep said that the newly inaugurated PAC was not a outpost or a police station, but an assistance booth, which will cover not only Darogapathar and but the neighbouring areas as well.

He said that it was a footprint where in future with expansion of Dimpaur, it will become an outpost.

Jamir also spoke about policing system, where he stated that primary duty was crime prevention and crime detection. However, he said public relation was needed to maintain law and order in the area.

“Safety and security is the concern of all citizens and not only the police department”, Jamir stated, and urged the Darogapathar Village Council (DVC) to continue to maintain peace and security in the area.

He also thanked the Darogapathar Village Council (DVC) for donating the building to run the centre. He said police expects such kind of cooperation from the general public. He further said that it was because of the village council’s insistence, desire and dream that the centre was started.

Chairman, DVC, Nongtok Jamir, also delivered a short speech on the inaugural programme. He stated that the building will be allotted free for three years. He further reassured the police department the DVC was ready to assist them in whatever possible and would be available 24/7 to assist them in their needs.
