Police nab 5 for robbery at Kohima courier office

Kohima police have arrested five persons in connection with a robbery at Delhivery Pvt. Ltd., an online logistic delivery service, near High School junction here on July 22 evening.

In a press release, Senior Superintendent of Police, Kohima, said that the stolen money amounting to Rs.16, 61,700, four brand new RedMi 8A dual mobile phones, two small arms (pistol), one magazine, four live rounds, six extortion slip/work permit of NSCN(I-M) along with several incriminating items were recovered and seized from their possession.

Further, police also recovered a vehicle (NL-01T/8856) that was used during the commission of the crime. The arrested persons have been identified as Henito Swu (37) Razu Peyu NSCN (I-M); Qhevishe Sheqi (41), Leacy NSCN (I-M); Chekiye Achumi (44) and Daniel Swu (27).

Police said preliminary investigation revealed the involvement of one of the staff of Delhivery Pvt. Ltd. Accordingly, one person identified as Vishika Swu (30) of Lazaphuyeqa village, Zunheboto and currently residing at Naga Bazar colony, Kohima was also arrested for connivance.

After observing all legal formalities, police said the accused persons have been remanded to police custody for the purpose of further investigation. Efforts are on to recover the remaining amount and the other stolen items, police added.

Meanwhile, Kohima police have warned of strict action against criminals and anti-social elements indulging in criminal activities and endangering public peace and security.

NSCN (I-M) terminates 

NSCN (I-M) through a  “termination order” stated that service of Henito Swu, Razou Peyu of Sumi Region and Qhevishe Sheqi, Leacy of Sumi Region, stood “terminated for violation of national principle and Ahza” with immediate effect as they were found involved in the robbery case of Delhivery Pvt. Ltd. in Kohima on July 22, 2020.
