 Yepthomi thanks PDA, people

Victorious Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party’s (NDPP) candidate Tokheho Yepthomi has expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to PDA chairman Chingwang Konyak, chief minister Neiphiu Rio, deputy chief minister Y Patton and leaders of all PDA constituent units– NDPP, BJP and JD-U – for reposing faith on him and fielding him as a candidate for the State’s lone Parliamentary constituency election.

In a statement, he said their tireless efforts and sacrifices ensured his victory. He also extended his sincere gratitude to the people of Nagaland for the successful conclusion of the election without any violence.

Pointing out that the Lok Sabha election in Nagaland was the first such election in the State where voters were polarised on the basis of religion, Yepthomi remarked that issues were misinterpreted and religion misused to misguide voters not only by political opponents but also by other members of society who are leaders in their capacities. He stressed that religion is an individual right and belief, whereas elections are meant for seeking the mandate of people for framing policies meant for their future.

“We need to introspect about our faith in God, if the trend of voting for a particular political party gives credence of being Christians,” he added.

Yepthomi assured to give my best as the State’s lone Lok Sabha member, while thanking God for the all protection and peaceful conduct of the election. He prayed to God for blessing Nagaland.
