The third and final round of training for presiding officers and 1st polling officers for the forthcoming Lok Sabha Elections was held on April 6 at Council Hall, Mon.

According to DIPR, deputy commissioner & district election officer Mon, Thavaseelan K, while addressing the trainees, requested the polling officers to clear their doubts before going for the polls. He also explained the importance of the Pole Star App and its uses. 

The DC requested the trainees to train well on operation methods and uses of Electronic Voting Machines, Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (EVMs and VVPATs), and Control Units in order to avoid unnecessary delays and failures on polling day. He also spoke on the importance of Mock Polls and reminded the polling officers to follow procedures. Thavaseelan also emphasized on web casting and offline videography. According to Thavaseelan, hands on training for EVMs & VVPATs will continue at DRDA Conference Hall.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Mon, Hiazu Mero, addressing the trainees said that polling officers are the core of election processes. He advised the trainers to apply their minds and use the knowledge learnt at the training, and to aid this end, he also requested the trainers to read training manuals thoroughly.

The third round of training for 2nd and 3rd polling officers is scheduled for April 8, to be held at the same location.
