Poshan Pakhwada programme at Rüsoma village

CDPO office, Kohima (tribal) organised a programme as a part of block activity for the celebration of Poshan Pakhwada, 2020, on March 12 at Rüsoma village, badminton stadium.

A press release from CDPO office, Kohima tribal stated that, senior supervisor CDPO office, Kohima (tribal), Reyivolu spoke on the importance of health and nutrition for adolescents and mothers. She compared the drawbacks and the benefits of having a healthy and sickly mother. 
Reyivolu stressed on the importance of maintaining cleanliness while doing chores and maintained that the ability to breastfeed a child was a gift from God, whereby every mother should find joy in breastfeeding a baby exclusively till six months and continue breastfeeding till the baby is two years of age.
She also added that the first 1000 days of the child’s life right from conception was the window of opportunity for parents to help the child. 
While speaking at the event, Keneilhoupfenuo, supervisor, CDPO office, Kohima tribal talked about the prevalence of anaemia in women and female adolescents.  She dwelt on the importance of consuming locally available vegetables and fruits as well as growth monitoring for children till the age of five years.
Further, she encouraged mothers to take children to AWCs and monitor their height and weight regularly.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Lorhele, supervisor and Mezhulhoubeinuo, AWW pronounced an invocation prayer. Demonstration of hand washing was done and posters, pamphlets were distributed, followed by the poshan pledge.
