Poshan rally in Longleng, Jalukie, Satakha, Tamlu

The launching programme of Rashtriya Poshan Maah rally was held in Longleng, Jalukie and Satakha. 

In Longleng, the rally was graced by Deputy Commissioner & chairman District Convergence Action Plan Committee, M. Shayung Phom as special guest on September 13.

According to DIPR, the DC in his speech said that the Poshan Maah was a mass movement in the country to do away with malnutrition problems of the people. Asserting that government was giving special importance to the health of both mother and child, the DC appealed to the womenfolk of the district to give a positive response to the call of the government with active participation and avail the opportunity with optimism. 

Shayung also urged the gathering not to be a silent spectator on such occasion but to understand the real purpose of the government’s policies and programme and take the advantage provided by the government.  He informed that all the government programmes of the district would be carried out positively in line with the rest of the districts in all activities.  He further urged the line departments involved to have good coordination for successful implementation of the scheme and wished them success in their venture.  

Speaking on health and nutrition, Dr. Wannau, Junior Specialist, District Hospital Longleng stressed on anemia, macro & micro nutrition and sources of nutrition for healthy living. He also spoke on change and development of human body during adolescent period, and its emotional effects in the later life. He further called for timely immunization of children. 

Earlier, Y. Tauhong Ngongen, CDPO Longleng delivered the keynote address while Afen, district coordinator PMMVY chaired the programme. The programme concluded with Poshan Pledge and Poshan Maah rally from DC office to Lempong junction.

Jalukie: As part of the national nutrition mission, Poshan Maah Cycle Rally was flagged off at Jalukie under Peren district on September 13. 

The programme was organised by department of Social Welfare Peren district. The cycle rally was flagged off by DC Peren, Santiwapang Aier where he briefed on the flagship programme initiated by Prime Minister of India to promote nutrition and health for growth and development of the children.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by DPO/DWO Peren, Nokcharenla Longchar; ADC Jalukie, Dr. Tinujongshi Chang delivered the welcome address. Poshan Maah rally pledge was read out by Anganwadi workers Jalukie, ICDS Project. On the occasion, 30 cyclists participated in the rally. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by CDPO, Watila. 

Satakha: Satakha ICDS project also organised Poshan rally  on September 10 in Satakha town as envisaged in the action plan of Poshan Maah. 

According to DIPR, students and teachers of Government Middle School and Government primary school, AWWs and AWHs and RD(NRLM), participated in the rally. 

ADC (NCS), Satakha, T L Kiusumong Tikhir, who is also chairman of BCAPC flagged off the rally.  After the rally, a short programme was held at Satakha area GBs hall, where ADC highlighted various programme under Poshan Abhiyan and encouraged the gathering to avail the opportunities provided by government through different converging departments. 

A short message on nutrition and anemia was delivered by Sr. Staff nurse, Hokhuli, and AWW, Kanili, presented a special number.

Tamlu: Tamlu block level nutrition rally marking Rashtriya Poshan Maah was flagged off by ADC and chairman BCAP Tamlu block, Y. Chingyak Konyak at the office premise of ADC Tamlu on September 11. 

According to DIPR report, delivering keynote address, Longlang CDPO and member secretary, BCAB, Tamlu appealed to the line departments for better convergence in all the activities during the national nutrition month. Dr. Baungan MO Tamlu spoke on the health issues of adolescent girls and said that the age in the adolescent period is marked with tremendous changes in the body. He also stressed on the extra nutritional needs and cleanliness during this crucial period of life. ADC administered Poshan pledge to the officials of all convergence departments and school children present in the rally.   The programme was chaired by Enyei, block coordinator Poshan Abhiyan Tamlu block and students of Christian English School, angawadi workers & helpers, medical staff and RD staff participated in the programme.
