PPC wants landslide damage assessed

Phom People’s Council (PPC) has urged National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to take stock of the magnitude of damaged caused by natural calamity in Longleng district. In a press release, PPC vice president, H Tenchem Phom, also urged the NDMA team to assess the damage caused to crops and vegetations and compensate the farmers for the loss. Phom said a PPC team led by him visited the landslide site along the Longleng-Yongam village road and inspected the ongoing road clearance work on September 4, 2018. 

In this regard, the PPC has lauded deputy commissioner (DC) Longleng John Tsulise Sangtam for his early intervention and initiative in clearing the road. PPC has also thanked PWD National Highway Longleng division SDO, Er. Imliakum  Aier, for prompt action in clearing the road by engaging department machinery. Further, PPC has thanked the village council of Yongam and Bhumnyu, all the donors who extended financial contribution and all civil society groups that have voluntarily helped in clearing the road.
