Program on Child Rights & POCSO held in Tenning

 A one day sensitisation program on Child Rights and Protection of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act 2012 was organised by District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) Peren in collaboration with Nagaland Development Outreach on July 21 at Tenning Town.

A press release by DCPU Peren stated that the program aimed to enlighten the unreached rural community about child rights and child protection.

In a keynote address, DCPO, Peren, Avika Zhimomi highlighted the structure of the Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) and the roles and functions of village level child protection committee (VLCPC).

He asserted that for a peaceful society every individual in the society should be responsible to protect the rights of children. 

Resource person, legal & probation officer, Peren, Asungbe, spoke on the Juvenile Justice Act (JJ Act) and POCSO Act 2012.

The program was chaired by data analyst, Hylung Pame, invocation was said by secretary Christian Education, Wiriangsui and vote of thanks was delivered by project coordinator, Pekikhengpi Namdou.

The program was attended by Nagaland development outreach members, SJPU, village council members, VLCPC, student organisation, church leaders, NGOs and Anganwadi workers.
