Programme on community empowerment held in Tsg

DEF Tuensang, district administration, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Tuensang, National Programme for Control of Blindness & Visual Empowerment and Tuensang District Football Association organised a collaborative programme on community empowerment through an integrated approach at GHS hall Thonoknyu on February 4. 

A press release by SP Tuensang stated second phase collaborative programme on community empowerment through an integrated approach was also held at Pathso town on February 5. 
Programme was chaired by Dr. Pritpal Kaur SDPO Tuensang who emphasized on quality education, hard work, sincerity, perseverance and career options. A short speech on control of blindness & visual empowerment was delivered by I. TochiImlong, opthalmic assistant, CHC, Longkhim followed by eyesight test and spectacles distribution. Short speech was also delivered by Dr. Shisarenla Aier, subject matter specialist (Horticulture), KVK Tuensang where she emphasized on the importance of scientific cultivation practices, followed by hands on training on ginger candy making and chilli pickle. The participants were also trained on scientific cultivation of potato, onion, mushroom cultivation by Yanger I Kichu, farm manager, KVK Tuensang and important of soil testing and method of soil sample collection was given by Seveto Nyekha, programme assistant, KVK Tuensang. Planting materials like potato tubers around 400 kgs and onion seeds around 10 kgs were distributed to the farmers. Games and sports equipments like carrom board, football and volleyball were also distributed to the students. Altogether 341 patients came for eye sight test and 234 nos of spectacles were distributed in both Thonoknyu and Pathso. Phuniyang, SDO (Civil) Thonoknyu delivered the welcome address.
Altogether 417 participants from Thonoknyu and Pathso participated in the programme along with officials from Tuensang Police, KVK Tuensang, administration Tuensang, National Programme for Control of Blindness & Visual Empowerment.
