First edition champions Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School defeated Don Bosco Higher Secondary School to set up the final clash of Kohima District Inter-School Football Tournament with John Government Higher Secondary School, Viswema.

The final match will be played on July 15 at IG Stadium, Kohima. 

In the first semi final, John GHSS, Viswema came from a goal down to beat St. Mary’s Cathedral HSS 7-2 on Saturday. 

Tepevil opened the account for St. Mary School in 10th minute. But Zayiese Sale got the equaliser for John GHSS in the 29th minute. Two minutes before the half time, Kelethuto Kin doubled the lead for John GHSS 2-1.

In the second half, St. Mary’s striker Tepevil, with his fine solo effort, gave the team the equaliser in the 57th minute. 

However, John GHSS extended the lead when Vizakrüto Sothu and Kelethuto Kin scored a goal each in the 61st and 69th minutes respectively. 

St. Mary team was dealt with a major blow when their defender Vedeto was given the marching order in the 71st minute after two yellow cards. John GHSS’s Vichüto Phira scored in the 73rd minute to make it 5-2 then Justin Malangmie scored in the 75th minute to extend the lead to 6-2. Kin completed his hat-trick in the 77th minute to end the match 7-2. 

Meanwhile, first edition champions Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School registered a thumping victory over Don Bosco Higher Secondary School 5-1 in the second semi final match.

Defensive side Don Bosco HSS were made to paid for the mistakes in their area as they failed to hold off the swift counter attacks from the opponent team. 

DBHSS goalkeeper Moasunep was at his best making crucial saves for the team but their toothless strikers failed to make find the net.  Küvethi Swüro scored twice for Rüzhükhrie GHSS, while Vetsoto, Kereilhukho, Khisenlo Apon scored a goal each to register an easy win. 

The lone goal for DBHSS Kohima was scored by Kekhrievor in the 38th minute.
