Rengma Sports Association’s (RSA’s) 45th sports meet was held at RSA ground Tseminyu Old Town with advisor Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services and Women Development, R. Khing as special guest on Wednesday. The sports meet will conclude on January 18.

Khing, in his address, urged the players to be sincere and not play games as a way to pass time like in the olden days but to play them professionally. He said sports had become a major industry in the world and talented sportspersons make a good living through sports. Khing challenged talented Rengma players to aim higher and strive to be state, national and international players and bring laurels to the community and State. In this regard, he said a player should be determined and hard working to reach the top.

Earlier, the special guest unfurled the sports meet flag.   

The opening ceremony was chaired by Caleb Kath vice president RSA, invocation prayer was offered by Haiwalo Apon executive secretary CRBC Zunpha, welcome address delivered by Benjamin Lorin, presidential address delivered by Gwasinlo kath president RSA, special song presented by Eunice Thong, oath taking was administered by match commissioner Hini Thong, vote of thanks proposed by Kenilo Tep joint secretary RSA and later the special guest declared the sport meet open.

Altogether 66 teams with hundreds of players from Rengma villages will participate in the three-day sports meet that includes badminton for men’s, women’s and mix doubles, table tennis for men and women and volley ball for men and women.
