In the last league match of the Ranji trophy for the season 2018-19 played at NCA Stadium, Dimapur, Nagaland are in a commanding position after scoring 387 for 5 wickets against Pudduchery on Day-1.

Opting to bat at Sovima, Nagaland slipped to 35/3 inside the first 10 overs. However, Hokaito Zhimomi and Nitesh vindicated captain Jonathan Rongsen’s decision to bat and combined to stitch 215 runs for the fourth wicket.
Nitesh, who brought up his maiden first-class century, was much more aggressive in his knock that was studded with 10 boundaries and two sixes, while Zhimomi’s scintillating 177 off 231 deliveries was laced with 13 boundaries and five sixes.
The partnership was brought to an end after Nitesh was dismissed by Raiphi Vincent Gomez in the 55th over. Zhimomi fell to Pankaj Singh, who picked three wickets in his 19.5 overs and went for 95 runs. At stumps, Jonathan was well settled batting on 72 off 101.
Earlier in the day, Hokaito Zhimomi, the first Naga player to play first class cricket, has announced his retirement from cricket after this match against Pudduchery. Hokaito Zhimomi earlier represented Bengal U-19 team and Assam Ranji team.
Hokaito, who is also a certified BCCI Level-A coach, now plans to take up full time coaching in Nagaland. He has already started a cricket coaching centre at Neingulie Memorial School ground since last year.
