Ravi Zacharias battling cancer

Christian apologist Ravi Zacharias has been battling a rare form of bone cancer since March and was recently informed by doctors that his cancer- an aggressive and rare form of cancer in his spine-  has spread and there’s nothing more they can do medically.

His daughter Sarah Davis, CEO of Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM), offered a heart-breaking update on his condition. Despite recently undergoing back surgery and cancer treatment, Davis says their family is preparing for Zacharias’ final days.
“We have just learned that while the tumor in my dad’s sacrum has been responding to the chemotherapy, the area where the cancer metastasized has actually worsened,” says Davis. “His oncologist informed us that this cancer is very rare in its aggression and that no options for further treatment remain.
“Medically speaking, they have done all they are able to.”
The family is now returning to Atlanta after his latest medical visit to Houston. Davis indicates that his medical treatments are at an end, and the family will cherish whatever time they have left with this great leader of the Christian faith. “After many weeks of separation, our family is anxious to spend time together,” she says.
Zacharias, 73, founded his international apologetics ministry, RZIM, in 1984, and has been widely sought after for decades for his eloquent answers to life’s biggest questions. He’s been a prolific author, debater, and academic throughout his life.
Earlier, in an online post, Zacharias addressed his health while sharing he and his wife’s 48th wedding anniversary.
“Our 48th wedding anniversary looked different than the others, but three things remain the same: our love for each other, the gift of family and friends who shower us with kindness, and the abiding faithfulness of our great God,” says Zacharias.
Davis also shared their family’s gratitude to the care, friendship, and love her father received by the medical teams at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he underwent treatment.
“After many weeks of separation, our family is anxious to spend time together,” Davis says before addressing those at RZIM.
Zacharias expressed gratitude to well-wishes and prayer from people around the world.
“Thanks to everyone who sent greetings and words of encouragement to Margie and me on this occasion. Please keep us in your prayers as I battle cancer, and accept our heartfelt gratitude for your love and friendship.”
“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.’ —1 Corinthians 13:13,” Zacharias concludes in his post.
