After a mediocre Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018, Royal Challengers Bangalore have made few changes to their management group.

As per a report in Bangalore Mirror, head coach Daniel Vettori, batting and fielding coach Trent Woodhill (Australia) and bowling coach Andrew McDonald (Australia) have been asked to leave.

However Ashish Nehra, who joined the team last season, will continue as bowling mentor. The new management will be announced next week, but captain Virat Kohli’s suggestions will hold an importance. As of now, Gary Kristen, the former India national cricket team coach who is associated with RCB as batting mentor, is favourite to don the coaching hat.

Speculations are also rife that Sanjay Bangar, who is currently the Indian cricket team’s batting coach, is a strong candidate to assume charge as the head coach.

However, if he gets the job, there will be a conflict of interest and this could well invoke another controversy.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have always flattered to deceive in the IPL and despite having AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli in their side, they could only win six out of the 14 games.

The situation was even bleak in 2017 when they were banished to the bottom of the table. After their underwhelming performance this year, a lot of criticism was directed towards the management for not being astute in the auctions and for adopting a confused approach during matches and this could be one of the reasons why heads are rolling in the franchise.
