District health review meeting-cum-orientation programme for health units i/c, vertical programme officers under CMO Dimapur on Nagaland Health Project (NHP) was held at Dimapur District Hospital chapel hall on November 8.

A press release by deputy CMO Dimapur, Dr. Antoly Suu stated that, Dr. Vizolie, director, Health Services and project director NHP emphasised that NHP was a complimenting and supplementing programme to the already existing health service delivery in the state and not a duplicate. He added that health department must work in a concerted effort to provide quality health services and achieve targets. He also shared on various innovative ways to tackle shortage of medical officers especially in the remote rural areas. He lamented that absenteeism was the major issue in the implementation of any programme and therefore urged the medical fraternity to live up to the expectation of the people by providing regular and quality health services. 

Consultant NHP, Achum presented an overview of NHP and stated that it aim was to strengthen community involvement in improving the health care and nutrition, and its outcome.

District facilitator, Abino said that so far 59 landscaping projects have been completed in various health units and VHCs and 57 training sessions have been conducted in the district. She highlighted the block-wise achievements and also the challenges faced during the implementation of the project.

Consultant, NHP, Sophy highlighted the Supply Chain Management and Information Communication Technology (ICT), emphasizing on the benefits of effective logistics system and envisioned ICT initiative.

DPO (UIP/RCH), Dr. Rebecca Y. Sema informed the members that Dimapur district has been adjudged the best performing district for AFP and measles surveillance activities in the state and congratulated all the health workers for their efforts. 

The programme was chaired by Dr. Antoly Suu, deputy CMO. CMO Dimapur, Dr. T. Pangjung Sangtam delivered welcome address in the programme attended by medical officers from all the CHCs and PHCs, vertical programme officers and staff under CMO establishment. Dr. Vizolie also inspected the civil works at District Hospital Dimapur and School of Nursing.
