Dimapur District Autorickshaw Drivers’ Union (DDADU) vice president, Tito Yepthomi on Tuesday distributed rice to the flood victims at LRC colony.

Tito Yepthomi, who is also a resident of IV LRC, distributed the rice in the presence of GB and chairman of the colony.

According to Yepthomi, the colony used to witness immense hardships during every rainy season as it was located to Lengri -Balijan river. He said huge volume of water flows through the river during rainy season and has made life miserable especially to those poor and needy families, who could not afford to erect a flood protection wall.

He claimed that despite the grievances faced by the families affected by the flood water, the government was yet to take up any measure to tackle the flood problem.

He said that the river has been overflowing above the danger mark due to incessant rain in last few days. Altogether, 37 families severely affected by flood were living without electricity and other basic needs, he added.

In this regard, Yepthomi on behalf of IV-LRC colony, has appealed to the State government and the responsible department to take the stock of the difficulties faced by the families and initiate developmental activities.
