Kohima Law College (KLC) led by its professor-in-charge Kezhokhoto Savi conducted a “Know Your Rights & Entitlement” awareness program at Don Bosco College (DBC), Kohima on August 16.

Savi, in a press note said that the resource persons for the program were Alemtemsu Atsungchanger, A. Akongla Phom, Medovizo Solo, Randanbemo E. Kikon and Vinguse-u Yashu. The topics presented included Consumer Rights, Food Safety & Standard Act and Lokayukta, besides others.
Savi, who is also the NVCO president, appealed to the state government to honour the directions of the Supreme Court of India where a date line was given to the government of Nagaland to set up Lokayukta. Lokayukta, in simple terms, can be defined as an Anti-Corruption Act, the release stated. Under it, public servants, including the chief minister, will be under more scrutiny against corruption and erring officials can be punished. The release further explained that Lokayukta is a person who is appointed by the Governor.
Savi also asked political parties, especially the ruling party, to not deduct percentages of public fund in the name of funds or commissions.
The program was chaired by Lanukumla, asst. professor DBC, and the vote of thanks was delivered by asst. professor, Aosunep.
