Rio calls on Modi, central ministers

Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio on Tuesday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to apprise him of the current crisis faced by Nagaland following incessant rains which had caused landslides/mudslides, floods, damaged roads, agricultural lands and leaving thousands helpless across the state

After the meeting, Rio took to twitter saying: “Positive meeting with Hon’ble @narendramodi today. Discussed calamities faced by #Nagaland due to rains & developmental issues.”

Rio also said he had requested the Centre to expedite the Naga peace process for an early solution.

Rio also called on Union Home minister, Rajnath Singh and Union Railways minister Piyush Goyal. He said both the ministers for positively responding to the difficulties being faced by Nagaland and appreciated their commitment to extend all possible assistance.

Union Minister of State (MoS) for Home, Kiren Rijiju on Sunday assured the State government of all possible help from the Centre. Rijiju along with central officials was in Nagaland to take stock of the crisis.
