Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio along Health & Family Welfare minister S. Pangnyu Phom, PWD minister Tongpang Ozukum and advisor Rural Development Dr Neikiesalie Nicky Kire inspected the ongoing work at the Medical College site at Phriebagei Kohima, Saturday.

Rio directed the Medical department to submit a full status report on the progress, achievement and technical issues in order to place the matter before the Niti Aayog meeting slated to be held soon.

While urging the consultants and department officials to work overtime and complete the work within the stipulated time period, Rio also asked the consultants to come up with solution to the problems faced by them at the earliest.

The chief minister also instructed the department to plant more ingenious trees in and around the area and also to put up retaining walls around the boundary.

He also stressed on the importance of construction of well planned drainages within the Medical college.

Representative of the consultancy firm briefed the visiting team about the various problems and technical difficulties faced by them and also highlighted the issues of National Ground Level (NGL), for which there was a need to redesign the blue print of the building structure.

H&FW principal secretary Himato Zhimomi assured the team to speed up the ongoing works so that the Medical college could be functional at the earliest.

It may be recalled that Health and Family Welfare minister, S Pangnyu Phom in October 5, 2018 had said that the collective effort of the community and the state government was much needed to make the state’s first medical college functional by 2020.
