RNTCP holds 1st quarterly review meeting

Revised National TB Control Programme (RNTCP) conducted its 1st quarterly review meeting on June 11 at the Conference Hall, Directorate of Health & Family welfare Kohima. 

A press release by RNTCP stated that state programme officer, Dr.Tiasunup Pongener, highlighted about the program performance based on  eight parameters such as TB notification, Nikshay Poshan Yogana, universal drug sensitivity testing, screening for HIV among TB patients treatment success rate, DR TB patients on shorter regime, Fund utilisation etc.

National Health Mission (NHM), mission director, Dr Kevichusa Medikhru, reminded the staff about the momentous task of eliminating target by 2025 and the need to put all efforts in achieving the programme indicators as set by the Centre.

The state performance during the 1st quarter of 2019 was presented by NE consultant, RNTCP, Dr. Palash Talukdar. 

A brief training on the newer drug, Delamanid was also given. The drug will be used for treating complicated Drug Resistant TB patients aged from 6 to 17 years. 

The district TB officer of Kohima, Dr Asunu Thong enlightened the gathering with a presentation on difficult TB cases. The meeting was attended by all the district staff of RNTCP along with the State TB Cell Staff.
