In the first such incident in Dimapur, around Rs. 80 lakh was reported missing after the cash was taken out from the SBI Main Branch and loaded to a Cash Transit Van inside the bank premises here Thursday at around 11 a.m. According to sources, after the employee of the Jorhat-based private security company, SIS had loaded the cash, some strangers told him that the other employee had dropped some cash while bringing it to the van. Thereupon, the employee went to retrieve the fallen cash and on return, found that someone had looted the cash from the van.
In this connection, four individuals have been detained. Sources also suspect the entire heist was “an inside job” as security guards supposed to accompany the party did not report to work. Also the driver was also not in the van but went to answer nature’s call, when the other employee went to “retrieve the fallen cash”. An FIR was also lodged with police in this connection.
