RSU 40th general conference in Phenshünyu

40th general conference of Rengma Students’ Union (RSU)  was hosted by Phenshünyu Lowjvü Students’ Union (PLSU) under the theme “skill, self reliance and sustainability” from January 22 to January 24 at Whenha sports complex, Phenshünyu.

A press release from RSU stated that, othe first day of the conference, Khitilo Wanth, president Kandi Students’ Union chaired the programme, Awa Lorin, deputy CEO exhorted the students as introductory guest, invocation by Hyusinlo Keppen, pastor Rumesinyu Baptist Church and introduction by Hhanchulo Magh, speaker RSU. A special number was presented by Shatilo Keppen and Andrew Kent, while general secretary RSU, presented the report for the tenure 2017-2019.

A monolith dedication was chaired by Chegeseng Kath convenor, organising committee, dedicatory prayer by Rev. Isac Kesen, pastor, Phenshünyu Baptist Church and monolith unveiling by Temjen Imna Along, minister, Higher and Technical Education and Tribal Affairs as special guest were highlights of the second day. The inaugural programme was chaired by Zentilo Tep, co-convenor, organising committee.

During his speech, Temjen Imna Along spoke about the realities happening around Naga society and encouraged the students not to be influenced or carried away by foreign cultures.

While speaking as guest of honour, R. Khing, advisor, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services and Women Resources Development challenged the students to be hardworking and sincere in their studies and to humble themselves before God if they want to achieve their goals and succeed.

During the programme, Bible reading and prayer was done by Khetimo Magh, pastor Nsunyu Baptist Church, welcome speech by Peter lorin, president PLSU, welcome song by the cadentia, presidential address by Kisheto Kent Rengma, president RSU, speech on “what does a student mean to me” by Kechegi Kent of Baptist higher secondary school, Tseminyu, greetings by Thanchilo Kath, general secretary, Rengma Hoho, while Kegwayhun Tep, education secretary NSF extended greetings on behalf of president, Naga students’ federation. 

A folk dance was also presented by Kasha Daho Students’ Union and words of gratitude by Yhunsenlo Kent, convenor finance committee.

During the talk show session, Jacob Khing and Bwenye Kemp were moderators, Neichute Doulo, CEO entrepreneurs associate spoke on the topic, “entrepreneurship and our future”, while Neilezo Tep, deputy secretary, personnel & administrative reforms, spoke on the topic “the scene behind successful competitors”. Sinhilo Thong chaired the theme session, Kvulo Lorin, director, Tetso College Dimapur was the theme speaker, invocatory prayer was done by 

Kenyüsen Himb, pastor, Khenyu Baptist Church, special number by Abel 

Seb and a short speech was delivered by Yhunchulo Seb, vice president Rengma Selo zi.

On the third day of the conference, a folk song competition was held under the cultural programme where Sharon Khing and Moyalo Kath were the anchors, Khinyi Woch, president Rengma Public Organisation, Kohima was the cultural guest, invocation was done by Yhunibu Keppen and judges of the competition were Kegwalo Kent, Konyi Seb and Hechulo Semy.

G. Lithrongla, ADC Kohima graced the valedictory programme and spoke on the importance of mother tongue. Dr. Shasinlo Magh led the programme, invocation was done by Rüchünyhun Keppen, assistant pastor, Phenshünyu Baptist Church, special number was presented by Singinye Kemp and Runole Tep, oath taking of new executive council was done by the election commission, while Tenyebinlo Himb, vice president RSU presented vote of thanks. The programme was followed by RSU special night where renowned Rengma artists and various bands performed. New team of RSU executives for the tenure 2020-21 was also elected, led by Heiko Kent as president and Kegwalo Magh as general secretary including some of the executives members.
